Abstract
A study successional pattern of phytoplankton in Awon Reservoir was carried out within twenty-four months. The seasonal successional of dominant phytoplankton in Awon Reservoir followed different patterns in each year of the study. Hantzhia, Angmenellum, Navicula, Closeterium, Nostoc, Amphora, Synedra, Cosmarium and Phacus were the most prevalent phytoplankton general in the reservoir at different periods. The replacement of one form by another throughout the session is controlled by the varying environmental parameters such as temperature and rainfall.
