Abstract
A ten year appraisal of prevalence and economic significance of fasioliasis causing whole or part condemnations of livers was study from the records of meat inspection unit of Bodija Abattor, Ibadan, Oyo-State. A total of 753,701 cattle were slaughtered. The number of livers condemned (wholly and partially) as a result of fasioliasis and other disease were 27,857 (3.70%) and 12,116 (1.60%) respectively and statistically significant (p>0.05). the loss of due to the stated condemnation monetarily was not significant (p< 0.05). #12, 023,300, #7,279,600 (60.5%) was as a result of fascioliasis. The colossal loss made the disease to be an outstanding one and as such, there is a need to fashion out a national policy towards the eradication of his infestation.
