Abstract
In this paper, we provide the modified chi-square statistics to test hypotheses about multinomial probabilities in multi-dimensional contingency tables. The result also reveals that the null hypothesis can only be rejected if the value is greater than 1; and that there is no need for calculating expected cell frequencies before the null hypothesis can be tested.
