Abstract
The purpose of this work is to design, construct and testing of a portable laminar flow table of size 650mm by 350mm by 1300mm using local available materials that will serve as a teaching aid for students. Laminar flow table was fabricated using reinforced plastics, metals and poly vinyl chlorides (PVC), and rubber materials. The table was used to investigate into principles of potential flow by using water as a working fluid. The working section was formed by placing two laminated glass sheet between two 5.25 liters capacity source and sink tanks. The laminar flow table was put to series of tests to investigate into different flow techniques. An ideal laminar flow was firstly demonstrated, followed by inserting aerofoil, circular, and rectangular shaped objects into the flow. After the flow has been stabilized ink was introduced which allow different streamlines to be visualized. The equipment constructed compared with the existing one therefore, is capable of achieving the desired results.
